POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
We have a comprehensive set of policies covering the issues below
in more detail as well as many other issues associated with the
provision and running of the Playgroup. These are available for
you to read on request.
SAFETY
Please ensure your child is booked in with a member of staff at
the beginning of each session, and ensure a member of staff is aware
of any changes to collection arrangements for the end of the session.
It may be necessary for someone who is not known to the staff to
bring a letter or note of authorisation signed by you. In case of
an emergency arising during the session please telephone the group.
Fire drills are held every half term and recorded in the register.
ILLNESS
If your child has an infectious illness they should not attend and
the group should be informed. This includes an episode of diarrhoea
or vomiting – in which case a child should not attend for 48 hours
since the last attack.
Medication cannot be administered at the playgroup unless there
are exceptional circumstances and the child’s doctor prescribes
the treatment.
Staff should be informed if you child has received any medication
such as Calpol prior to coming to Playgroup.
Parents will be informed of any problems brought to the attention
of the Playgroup – such as head lice – whilst ensuring confidentiality
of the individual.
ACCIDENTS
Please inform a member of staff if your child is attending Playgroup
with a pre-existing injury. Should your child be injured while at
Playgroup trained staff will administer appropriate first aid, then
record details of the incident and treatment in the accident book,
which you will then be asked to sign to acknowledge that you have
been informed. In case of serious accidents it is important that
contact details are kept up to date.
DIET
Parents are asked to provide their child with a healthy savoury
snack at each session in line with our healthy eating policy.
There are occassions when children are given the oppourtunity to
try a variety of foods in line with our topics, so please ensure
our staff are made aware of any special dietry requirements or allergies.
Milk, Milkshake and water is provided.
DRESS
Potentially messy play activities such as painting, playdough etc.
will be provided on a daily basis. Whilst we provide aprons we cannot
guarantee their clothes will stay clean so please do not send your
child to playgroup in their best clothes.
SPECIAL NEEDS
The number of adults in the Playgroup and our key worker system
enables us to provide individual attention for each child to progress
at their own rate, relevant to their unique abilities.
When specific disabilities or learning difficulties are identified
we work in close liaison with other relevant professionals such
as speech therapists and health visitors.
